International Testing Psychologists in Switzerland

The International Testing Psychologists in Switzerland (ITPS) was established to promote and uphold high standards in the practice of psychological assessment.

We recognised that parents and schools often have very different experiences when a child is assessed.

By creating this group, our aim is to improve the quality, consistency, and clarity of the assessment process for all involved.

GOALS & VALUES

  • Support families in accessing assessment services that reflect cultural and linguistic diversity, ensuring assessments are appropriate for Switzerland’s multicultural population.

  • Establish clear standards for conducting assessments and writing reports to enhance the clarity and usefulness of information provided to families and schools.

  • Uphold ethical principles to deliver professional, high-quality services to the international communities living in Switzerland.

FINDING THE RIGHT FIT

A good assessment should feel clear, respectful, and centred on your child. It should help you understand how your child learns and identify the supports that will help them thrive.

Before agreeing to an assessment, it’s a good idea to ask the psychologist or clinic a few questions to make sure they’re the right fit for your family. You can download this checklist to guide you through that process.

HEALTH INSURANCE

In Switzerland, most health insurance companies do not cover the costs of psychological-educational assessments. Many international insurers do, but coverage can differ. We recommend checking directly with your provider to confirm your options.
